Privacy Policy

Effective September 18, 2026 · getcrackers.com

Short version: we collect what the app needs to work, your cupboard is private by default, we never sell your data, and the only people who see your purchase prices are you and nobody.

What we collect

Your email address (for sign-in and notifications), your handle and avatar, the content you add (photos, crackers, posts, comments, messages, Registry contributions, store spots), and basic technical logs (IP, browser type) that come with running any website. Sign-in uses cookies strictly to keep you signed in — we run no advertising trackers.

Who can see what

Your Cupboard is private by default. Things become public only when you choose: showcasing a piece, marking it for sale, sharing to the feed, or commenting. Purchase prices you record are visible only to you, always. Direct messages are visible only to you and the person you're messaging.

The AI photo check

When you upload a photo, it's automatically checked by an AI service (Anthropic's Claude) to confirm it's safe and nutcracker-related. The photo is sent for that one-time check and isn't used to train AI models. Photos that fail the safety check are hidden; everything else proceeds normally.

Services we rely on

Crackers runs on a small set of processors, each receiving only what their job requires: Supabase (database and photo storage), Vercel (hosting), Resend (sign-in and notification emails), Anthropic (the photo check above), and Benchmark Email (occasional marketing emails, which you can opt out of with one click). We don't sell your data to anyone, full stop.

Affiliate links

Some outbound links are affiliate links. The retailer may know you came from Crackers; that's how affiliate programs work. We don't pass them your identity.

Your controls

You can delete any photo, post, or cracker you've added — the files are removed from storage, not just hidden. You can make any showcased piece private again. To delete your whole account and its data, email us and we'll do it. Marketing emails have an unsubscribe link; sign-in emails only arrive when you request one.

Kids

Accounts are for people 13 and up. Kids in photos posing with nutcrackers are a proud family tradition — accounts for them will have to wait.

Security

Photos live in private storage served through expiring signed links; database access is enforced row-by-row so private stays private; there are no passwords to steal. No system is perfect, but the doors are locked.

Changes

If this policy changes meaningfully, we'll say so in the app or by email.
